Avarekaalu Akkitari Uppittu Made Using Borosil’s Digi Kook Rice Cooker- A Product Review

Foodelicious-Avarekaalu Akkitari Uppittu
Hi!
Here comes the last and final review of the three products, that I had received from Borosil . The previous two reviews can be read here and here.
I can very happily say that this product has become an innate part of my kitchen. My every day rice gets cooked in the Borosil Digi Kook Rice Cooker and I’m very happy with the outcome.
Not only is the rice cooker very sleek and smart looking, with a great finish but the final product cooked in it has always turned out very well. There are days when I get busy with work and the delay timer on the rice cooker has come to my rescue there.
I put the rice in the rice cooker with the delay timer ‘ON’ and get absorbed in my work. The delay timer helps me get a well cooked rice at a time I want. Once the rice gets cooked, it moves into ‘Keep Warm’ mode, so one always gets a hot rice on the plate. Sounds fuss free right!!

Five Spice Flavoured Cottage Cheese Balls Stuffed With Plums and Chinese Plum Sauce | Step Wise | Food Presentation Ideas-2

DSC_0350

Hi all!!

I can’t believe at myself, I’m posting like I’m running a marathon. This is my fourth post in the last four days which  also happens to be my fourth consecutive post on plums and it is yet again a savoury preparation in which  I’ve used plums in two ways; stuffed and prepared a sauce. I’m trying hard to avoid the sugar but I might land up posting something sweet..temptations are bad!! As you must have guessed this post is again for Kitchen Aid Contest for IFBMeet, where I’m trying to win a Kitchen Aid Chopper.

Mixed Sprouts Salad in Cabbage Cups | Food Presentation Ideas | Gluten Free | Dairy Free

DSC_6666.1

Hi all!!

This is my first post on food presentation ideas and I’m hoping to post many more. I strongly believe we first eat with our eyes. A food that is not overly cooked, has fresh colours and served in clean and neat dishes always looks more appealing. I’m always looking out for ideas to present food whenever I visit restaurants or watch food shows. I always get bowled over by the food presentation shown on various food channels. When I watch Master Chef Australia, I observe how much stress is given on the food presentation. The chefs take out time to design the look of their food on the paper before serving it. Food presentation is an art and it does need a thought process to do it rightly.

Grilled Chilli Paneer Cubes | Easy Starter Recipe | Bachelor’s Cooking | Gluten Free | Finger Food | Step Wise

Hi All!

As I have mentioned in my Mango & Dark Chocolate Trifle Post, that the kid is 14yrs old now and what I didn’t mention was that he is in the 9th grade and due to which the study pressures are very high. His school hours have got extended by an hour now and post school he rushes for his coaching class, so he is invariably out for 11-1/2hrs and by the time he comes home, he is very tired and hungry. Though, I ensure that he carries two lunch boxes but at a growing age, the children are always hungry and they need to eat food at short intervals.

Kurdayi Chi Bhaaji :गव्हाच्या कुरडयांची भाजी- A Traditional Recipe Of A Dry Curry Made Using Indian Home Made Wheat Vermicelli like Poppadums | Step Wise

DSC_6100-001

Hi all!!
It’s peak summer time here and while posting this recipe I’m filled with nostalgia. It seems like ages that I would sit patiently with Akka (my granny) and press out the kurdayaa (कुरडया) on plastic sheets under the scorching sun and then leave them to dry. Once in an hour she would make one of the grand children to run to terrace and check whether the birds were not attacking the drying fryums. I do not know what these fryums, made out of wheat are called in other languages, but in Maharashtra they are called कुरडया/Kurdayaa. They are made after soaking the whole wheat in water for 4-5days (water changed every day) and then the wheat is grinded, strained. It is then cooked with equal water, a lot of heeng to add flavour and salt to make a thick shiny mass called the ‘Cheeka’ (चीक). The चीक topped with filtered ground nut oil is a delicacy in itself and my mother and my my maternal aunts relished eating that. My granny ensured that there was enough चीक left for the family to eat. I never liked the cheeka but I did love the dried product, kurdaya.

Hi All!

Feels like the spring is around and the mango trees are gradually stooping with the load of mangoes. I love this season, the gentle smell of the mango flowers, the moderate climate, the gentle evening breeze. Spring also means exam pressures, one can feel the tension burgeoning with kids digging deep into the books.

This is also the time when children need proper nourishment to keep their brain active and body healthy. A proper balanced diet providing them  adequate energy, minerals, proteins and fibre is required. I and S for the past two months are following a strict diet and the kid is also influenced by our strict regime, though he does indulge into pasta and noodles once in a while but largely he follows a healthy food regime. This has helped him in staying fit and energetic while studying.
