Magickart.in | e-commerce website review |

Hi All!!

My readers might be wondering that it’s Diwali time and why am I not posting any Diwali recipes? Well, the fact being that the house where I live currently has a pipeline gas, the supply of which was stopped at a half an hour notice about a week back and ever since then our daily cooking is on a roller-coaster ride. The first two three days we managed with eating out and making quick sandwiches, as we were hopeful that the problem will get sorted soon. But then another bomb was thrown on us, we were told it could take a few days to months to get the line  repaired, as it’s an underground leak..That’s when reality hit me hard, I urgently needed other means of cooking!!! We take things so granted that unless an adversity hits us, we do not move out of our comfort zone and think out of the box..and for me, cooking completely without LPG is new. Though the task is  challenging but I’m managing well gradually..

Indian Cooking Unfolded & Uncomplicated By Raghavan Iyer | Recipes & Book Review

DSC_5287
Hi!!
While I write this post, I must confess my heart is humming with joy. It is not always that you are sent a copy of your favourite cookbook author for a review and for that I need to thank John from Workman Publishing, New York, who are the publishers of the book.
I have been a proud owner of 660 Curries by Raghavan Iyer and ever since then I’ve been an ardent fan of his cooking and teaching style. He is a pro at what he does and his new book is all about that.
Let me first begin with the appearance of the book. The appearance is quite unassuming. It does not have the customary glossy lushness but the book attracts you because of the smiling picture of the mentor, creator of the book Mr Raghavan Iyer, who is seen cooking on the cover page.

अवरेकाळु दोसा | Indian Pancake With Hyacinth Beans| Vegan | Gluten Free | Step Wise | Winner Of September’s Only Event

DSC_4745
Hi All!!
It is that time of the year when Avarekaalu is seen frequenting in the market and if I notice a good quality beans, I’ve to buy it. It so happened that I bought a big batch of the beans and my MIL got me more from Blr, so I had a lot of peeled avarekalu/mochai/ hyacinth beans at home, ready to use.
Whenever I’ve Avarekalu at home, the things regularly made are the akkitari Uppittu, avarekalu saaru and the akki rotti. Once I went more experimental and tried ambode which did turn out well. Each of these recipes have been posted step wise for people to understand it methodically. I was getting tired of going back to the same recipes again and again. It’s not that I do not like them but one needs more variety to try and savour, isn’t it? Hence, this time I decided to try new recipes using the beans and the first recipe that I laid my hands on was the avarekaalu dosa..

Gama Gamma- A Vegetarian Restaurant At Valasarvakkam | Restaurant Review

DSC_4869

A few days back a few of the discerning food bloggers were invited to review the newly introduced menu  of a vegetarian restaurant named Gama Gamma located in Valasarvakkam in Chennai. Being a vegetarian, I was quite curious to visit the place and see if the restaurant had anything new in store for us and if it had, what were it’s specialities..

It was a relatively sunny day on that Saturday afternoon when we visited Gamma Gamma  and the day had turned out more special as DH  decided to accompany me as the area was unknown to us. Though the place was not very far  from our place, I used google maps to locate it and realised that it was quite close to the Shivan Koil Tank on Arcot Road. Locating the place wasn’t difficult but parking the car became a difficulty. I realised it’s easier for the two wheelers to park in front of the restaurant rather than the four wheelers as it’s right on the main road. The guard guided us to park the car at some distance.

StepWise -साबुदाणा खिचडी सोबत अक्काची कोकम - दलचीनीची आमटी / sago khichadi with Dry Mangosteen- Cinnamon Soup| Fasting Recipe | Gluten Free

DSC_5175
Hi All!!
The festive and the fasting days have begun, so let me start by saying ‘ A Happy Navaratri’ to all my readers. I have  explained the significance of the Navaratra and Dussehra previously here and have posted a few fasting recipes earlier, which to my delight many of you have tried, liked and appreciated.
Since the ‘Navaratri’ have begun and many people are fasting, I thought of sharing a fasting food recipe. I was amazed at myself that I had never managed to post the most commonly eaten fasting food till date here…I gently admonished myself and steered the foodie in me to cook & post it right away.
