‘ONLY’ Event For June & The Giveaway Cookbook

Hi.
It’s peak summer here and  in a lot of countries summer holidays have just started. Come summer, and everyone wants to enjoy cool drinks, ice-cream, milkshakes, juices and stoned fruits…
Summer welcomes many ‘Stoned Fruits’ like peaches, cherries but the most awaited is the Mango. Mango, as is fondly called the king of fruits, is the theme of this month’s ‘ONLY’ event.
The event is guest hosted by ANU of Anu’s Healthy Kitchen. Do read her blog later today for all the event details and rules.

Watermelon White’s/ Rind’s Jhunka, Step by Step

DSC_1769-001
Hi!
Today I’m posting a very healthy and tasty recipe which is just perfect for this summer. With the temperatures soaring over 40C, the body dehydrates easily and one fruit that helps prevent that is, Watermelon. After eating the juicy flesh, one is always left with the rind which has an inner soft white part and outer hard green part.
The watermelon rind is normally discarded but I must tell you, it is very rich in minerals and obviously water too, being a part of the fruit. This semi-dry curry makes use of the white part which is just below the red portion, is juicy and fibrous without the sweetness. So, this curry is a good source of adding dietary fiber to your food and the best part is it’s low calorie too. This curry makes good use of a part which otherwise people normally throw. So, it’s a preparation made, best out of waste.

Vermicelli Omelet

DSC_1696-001

Hi all!
Hope you all are enjoying your summer holidays. So what all have you been up to? I’m all set to leave for a  family function, this month end and looking forward to the break. The heat and humidity is just killing here and not to mention the nonsensical power cuts, makes you feel so dizzy at times.
The heat has made me so irritable that I’m just not myself these days but that still does not let me skip kitchen. The kitchen is a fuming furnace where each and every pore of your body cries and sheds tears..am I exaggerating too much..but honestly, one sweats so much these days..

Chocolate Scone

P1070922-001
Hi Every one!
Finally I baked in this heat and humidity but then again I did not make anything elaborate but it was interesting and inviting, as I baked the scones. Scone, pronounced Scon as in ‘ON’. is traditionally a British small, rich, biscuit like pastry or quick bread, made by using baking powder as a leavening agent, sometimes baked on a griddle.
Traditionally they were made the size of a medium plate but these days, in the modern kitchen small sized scones are baked. These are served warm, slit in horizontally and layered with butter. These make an ideal breakfast item along with milk or tea.

Badam/Almond Sherbet for III Blog Anniversary

DSC_1741-001

Hi All!
I'm so ecstatic today as I type this post..Can't believe three years have passed by..
I've always managed to make some dessert for the anniversary posts, Litchi Kulfi for the first year and  Darsaan With Icecream the last year. Temperature is always an issue around this time of the year but this year, it's different, it's humid too. With temperature hitting 43C and humidity as high as 85%, I'm avoiding doing anything elaborate. I feel sapped out of energy and dehydrated at times inspite of drinking water constantly..
I wanted to make something cooling for the body which could be made quickly. I realized I have not posted any sherbets till date and decided to post it for this special occasion..

Hariyali Masala Cottage Cheese/Paneer..step by step, & New winner of Only Snacks & Starters

Hi all!

Sorry for disappearing suddenly, was not keeping well for a while..
I'm trying to complete my entry for the Magic Mingle #5 hosted by Kalyani, using Cottage Cheese and Mint as the main ingredients.
Ever since Kalyani had announced the theme I had wanted to make the Masala paneer as my kid loves it. While living in Delhi, I would make it a point to buy masala paneer from Gopala. His paneer was extremely soft, flavorful and I used to use it for making sandwiches and tikkas.

Winner of ‘Only’ Snacks & Starters

Hi All!

Thanks to all for participating in 'Only' Snacks & Starters. It's an amazing collection of recipes and I must thanks Raji of Vegetarian Tastebuds for hosting and putting up a great round up.

I was to pick a winner from the 84entries sent in the ‘Indian’ category. Personally, if I was to sit and pick a winner, I would be so confused Confused smile. Glad, I've the random picker to do the job, which not only saves my effort and helps being unbiased and stay fair to one and all.

The random picker, picked number 65..

DSC_1676-001

Hi All!

I’m glad that I could finally sit and type this post which I’ve been  planning for a long time but last few days seems to have just vanished. I was badly stuck in so many things that I was hardly getting time to sit down and do something creative or sensible…
